The capital of Russia’s southern Republic of Dagestan is set to host the fourth annual meeting of the Russia – Islamic World group on November 10-13.
The gathering in Makhachkala is expected to focus on the prospects of Russia’s relationship with the global Muslim community amid growing terrorist threats and security challenges. In particular, the members will address ways to counter the threats with emphasis on youth outreach and specific solutions to ensure higher efficiency of concerted efforts in youth and education policies.
Among the forum’s participants are Deputy Foreign Minister, Presidential Envoy for ME and Africa Mikhail Bogdanov, Group members as well as representatives from the OIC, the Islamic Development Bank, ISESCO, and the Arab League.
The guests will also have a chance to see Russia’s oldest city, Derbent. It was from here that Islam started making its way across Russia back in the 7th century.
Recognized as an efficient platform for the exchange of opinions and experience, the RIW Group makes its contribution to ensuring stability and curbing the spread of extremist sentiment among youth.
